Leap Day is a new endless vertical platformer by Nitrome for the iOS and Android platforms. This game is unique in that it gives you a new level to play every day. In each level, your goal is to get as high of a score as possible by collecting fruit and jumping past the various obstacles in the stage. Read on for some tips and tricks for Leap Day!
You can play not only the current day’s level, but the level of any previous day as well. To do this, go to the options menu and go to the calendar area. Any level from before you downloaded the game will be locked. Tap the level and you can watch an ad to unlock it. Once the video is finished, play the prior level to your heart’s content.
Go back to the calendar any time that you want to switch levels. Any level that has been added while you have the game on your phone or tablet will be playable without you having to watch an ad. So keep the game on your device for awhile and a whole bunch of new levels will show up.
Your character runs back and forth automatically. It’s the jumps that you control. Without hitting a wall, you can double jump – jump from the ground, and then jump in the middle of your first jump. When you jump into a wall, you’ll land on it, and from there you can jump once or twice again.
Look for a door on the side of the screen, and then go into it. You’ll find a checkpoint that you can access via either paying in fruit, or watching an ad. If you go back out the door that you came in, you’ll go back to the level. Go to the door on the other side and you’ll have the option to buy the ad-free version of the game.
There is nothing stopping you from going back down except for the platforms – nothing is chasing you from the bottom of the screen. This means that you can backtrack as much as you need to in order to go back and collect all of the fruit that you can. The more fruit that you collect, the higher your score will be, so don’t skip fruit if at all possible.
